Berlin and the Bus Ride from Hell

As mentioned in my last post, Berlin was a pain to get to. Thankfully, I had time to figure out how to get to Berlin. Instead of taking the train, I opted to take a bus. The bus ride was long but cheaper than a flight. I would not recommend EVER taking the bus. It was worst than a Greyhound bus. The bus company double-booked seats. Often people would get all fussy about who was sitting where. My main issue with the bus was it not being on time.

I made it to Berlin at 2 am and slept until 2 pm the next day.

On my second day in Berlin, one of my Berlin Besties showed me around Mitte, the museum island and some great places to eat. We went to the top of the Humboldt Forum and had coffee before walking around. I found the way Germany memorialized the Holocaust throughout Berlin to be quite lowkey and respectful to those affected. Throughout Berlin, there are many reminders from the Holocaust memorial to the Stolperstein throughout the city. We also saw the Bebelplatz memorial.

My other Berlin Bestie and I went to a club on Tuesday or Wednesday. Clubbing in Berlin was interesting, to say the least. We got to the club pretty early, so the club was empty. We went outside for a bit and ran into some guys from Berlin. They were friendly and persistent. We went back inside to start dancing and noticed that the club was full of guys with a handful of girls. As we were dancing, guys kept trying to dance with us while we tried to get away from them.

We wound up dancing with the guys from Berlin, some random girls and two guys who we thought were Finnish. The girls were so aggressive, trying to take my sunnies. After a while, we ended up leaving when we learned the Finnish guys didn't have Instagram - such wouldn't have been a red flag if they didn't ask if we wanted to come to theirs.

I would say that clubbing in Berlin was overall decent. Those who know me know I don't go clubbing. So as my third clubbing experience, I still had fun - minus some of the music.

On my last day, we went to a cafe for coffee and cinnamon buns which were amazing.

My next adventure: Poland, Czechia, and Hungary!
