Off To a Rocky Start

So even though I got past the border and to the Airbnb alright on the 29th, I only managed to get out on the 31st. The jet lag is kicking my butt big time. Sadly on the flight, sleep was never an option. Despite having enough legroom, I sat in the middle of a large family with two infants and two toddlers. After standing in line and crossing the border (which was nothing like crossing the American border), I grabbed my checked bag without any hassle (as a bit of a side note: they have a smoking room IN THE AIRPORT) and an Uber to the Airbnb and checked in early which thankfully wasn't an issue. After the host showed me the ropes, I took a nap that turned into a two-day coma. To say it was a coma would be an exaggeration I took the occasional YouTube or shower break.

When I finally decided it was time to get it together at 4:30 am on a Saturday. I managed to shower and waited until something was open to buy toothpaste and something to munch on. In the past 48 hours, I managed to eat a cliff bar and was aware that whatever I ate had to be something light and not something fried or rich. Well turns out hummus and bread, wasn't it. Thankfully I had the toothpaste, minus the puke on my jeans and hair. I was able to recover quickly.

After a few hours of contemplating my existence, I decided to go for a walk. I decided to walk to ISC Paris to get the lay of the land.

The above route was not the route I took. On my first attempt, I got lost and just walked back to the Airbnb. Google Maps also gave me a much shorter way of getting to the school by walking in front of the So Ouest mall. I stayed across the street from the school since it was closed, and there was no point in trying to get in.

On my way back, I stopped at Starbucks (lame, I know). I just got an iced tea, nothing special. But they sell pancakes and other delicious-looking treats we don't have at home. One thing I enjoyed on my little walk was walking through small parks that usually are in between apartment buildings. Le Parc Gustave Eiffel had lovely seating places and these metal figures throughout the park.

Hopefully, tomorrow I'll feel more up to eating and walking around. I promised myself I wouldn't sleep until 7 pm, but who knows?
