Today's Adventure - Jan 6, 2023

 As promised, I managed to make it to Paris! I started by walking to the Arc de Triomphe, about a 35 minutes walk from where I'm staying. I didn't go to the top because ISC Paris has organised a whole integration week for us, and going to the top of the Arc de Triomphe is one of the activities!


On my way to the Eiffel Tower, about another 30 minutes from the Arc de Triomphe, I got a little stuck in the roundabout. They can get confusing if you're not familiar with the area.


Getting to see the Eiffel Tower was so beautiful. It was a real: "wow, I'm really here" moment. Like the Arc de Triomphe, I didn't do much exploring around the Eiffel Tower since it is also part of the integration week. 

On my way to the Panthéon, I stopped at Esplanada Jacques-Chaban-Delmas, a park in front of the Hôtel Des Invalides. 


I'm going to try to come back here. Looking at the grounds on Google, there's a lot to see.

From the Eiffel Tower to the Panthéon was about another hour's walk. I didn't stay too long since my phone was about to die, and I wasn't about to walk mindlessly through Paris. 

I may return to the Panthéon since it's not a part of our integration week tour.

Before heading home, I quickly stopped at le Jardin Du Luxembourg. Not for very long, but I want to come back here!

After the two-hour walk, I took an Uber home and called it a night. The plan for tomorrow is to walk to le Jardin D’Acclimatation and back (since it is a 50 min walk)

So the trip was organised through a student association at my uni. They basically “help” integrate international students - I say “help” because they do nothing and my god, they had so much drama the whole trip. Anyways, getting to the airport was a journey. We got there four hours early, which was super unnecessary. At the airport, they kept trying to micromanage us (they did this the entire trip). Many of us have fallen victim to following the latest trends. From leggings to forested tips, we've all done it and may or may not regret it. Brussels, Belgium Overall the journey to Brussels was semi-uneventful, minus losing my wallet. Thankfully it's just a wallet and is replaceable. It was relaxing for the most part, again, minus losing my wallet. I made it to the AirBnB ok, but unlucky for me had to carry my big bags up the stairs. Brussels was boring. Mainly because it rained the whole time I was there, so I didn't do much. Quite a statement coming from someone who lives in a rainforest   The one day I did go out was to sit and read at Leopold Park, where the EU Parliament is. I walked around and read a bit until it started to pour and hail. Fun, fun. If I had the emotional energy, I would have liked to go to Bruges, which is beautiful.  's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands Going to 's-Hertogenbosch was the right move.
